Pieces of me...

I'm so excited about the opportunity to blog about my travels that I thought it best to tell you a little bit about this character that is joining the mix of enthusiasts on the Travelstart blog.

Getting_my_face_painted_at_moyo I hail from the sunny skies of Africa and was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. My name is Deshanta Naidoo and I work as a professional blogger and content manager for a growing social media and mobile company called Cerebra.

I am 24 years old, and being a young, up and coming technology fundi, I am fond of traveling to new and interesting places, meeting people from different places, and experiencing the diverse cultures that are out there.

At the moment I'm really excited to be working and earning an income that allows me to treat myself to holiday trips when, off course, accumulated leave days at work allows ;-)

My previous holidays have all centered around getting to know the South African landscape a little better and I think it's the best way to not only get acquainted with my country's people, but to also use this knowledge to further share my experiences with others who would be interested in visiting South Africa.

I hope that my travel experiences will give you more insight and understanding to the South African mindset and one day, perhaps, you will come visit us and explore all the beauty and warmth that we have to offer as a nation.

Bye bye Osiris...hello world!

It's been a while and my time at Osiris seems to be a distant memory now that the end of 2007 is closing in on me. Nevertheless there are new opportunities on the horizon for this blog next year, as I will not let things go to pot.

My friends were gracious enough to create this wonderful space for me and I've been using the latter half of this year to consider what I could use Goodbye Desh for. One of the things that I did try to do this year was explore South Africa and allow myself to experience some of the beautiful places that SA has to offer.

It is with great excitement and glee that I have decided to use my blog to chronicle my future travels and enlightening experiences as a young traveler. I have also been offered the opportunity to blog for a travel company called Travelstart so I'm quite psyched that GD will be entering the mix of things to come.

It's going to be a fun journey and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

See you in 2008!
D

Quote for the Day

Rhoda Rheddy: "Shall we have a cuppa in memory of those who are no longer with us?"

Not every ones cup of Tea

After last weeks failed attempt (read previous post), Nathan decided to go for the BEE approach.

TEAM THAT WORKED ON THIS PROJECT

Nathan
Copywriter: Nathan
Art Director: Nathan
Illistrater: Nathan
Client Service: Nathan
Project Manager: Nathan
Brand Manager: Nathan
Traffic Controller: Nathan

Creative Director: Nathan
Tea Lady: Nathan
Client: : Nathan
Target Market: Idiots like Nathan

Brief: Conceptualize and Create an invite to the Osiris Tea Club at 3.

Objective: Now that Deshanta, Ketna and Susann left the T-Club is lacking membership. This invite should encourage new people to join the T-Club.

Initial Conceptualizing:
Nathan: "Hey I know Orla, Let's use an Image of T-Bag. Get it T-Cup = T-Bag. Come on don't you get it. T-bag is the dude from Prison Break. The one who lost his finger. OOh shit - lost finger = finger food at tea party. Ja, maybe you were right and I should just stick to using an image of a T-Cup"

Finished Product:

Easter Love from the T-Club

No animals (excluding the bear with no hair and the breast stroking bunny) were harmed in the making of this "Cup of Tea".

Life without Desh

So Deshanta has been gone for only a few weeks and we've been recruiting new members for our tea club like crazy. But this has proven difficult since most of our initial members (yes you Ketna and Susann) have also left us.

So as they say desperate times calls for desperate measures and Nathan and Michael have tried their best to create new/innovative and downright 'Dirty' invitations for our 3 'o clock tea.

Apart from the Tea club something interesting also happened. Shaan couldn’t cope with sitting next to Deshanta's empty chair for much longer so he followed the Voortrekkers example and went on his own groot trek to the edge of the Drakensburg (also known as the seats in Channel that face the canteen). To quote Shaan: "I really miss Desh, but what I miss the most about moving is the printer and its noises."

The tribe has spoken... It's time for me to be on my way :-(

Alas Peeps,

It’s time for me to journey on and although parting is such sweet sorrow… Someone’s gotta’ do it :P

No more dark screens, hair or multiple personalities to comment on – what are you guys going to do? hehehe

I’d like to extend a special Thank you to you all for the knowledge, experience and friendships that I have gained during my time at Osiris.

My gratitude goes out to the wonderful people at Osiris with whom I have shared so much and have become dear friends with. Each and every person here has shaped and touched my life in some way and I’m grateful for that. I believe that ‘every minute of every day, you are a part of everybody’. How true this motto is when you’ve worked for a company like Osiris ;-)

Thank you to everybody who contributed so generously to my farewell gift – I deeply appreciate the kind gesture!

Holler at me anytime, and for those who I didn’t get the pleasure in meeting,

Goodnight and Good Luck!

Love and lotsa links,
Deshanta

Mike, I think you should have auditioned for Professor Trewlawney in Harry Potter. Think you would have made a better seer, althought Emma Thompson is a good actress so props to her. ;-)

The problem with tea cups, you see, is that Susann usually chips them with cherries playing coinage!!?

Tea at 3 - the journey of the teacup

This is Michael (also known in the porn industry as Micros) Tea Cup.

Nobody's ever seen the tea cup because it's always
gone, broken

or getting smaller.

Teacup facts:

  • The teacup's got an illegitimate child called "Little teapot"

  • Susann played coinage with the teacup using cherries.
  • One of the cherries turned out to be a sparkle sweetie and broke the cup

  • The teapot song was a number one hit on 5 fm in 1982. Here are the lyrics: "I'm a little teapot, short and stout, Here is my handle and here is my spout. When I spy a teacup, then I shout, tip me over and pour me out!"

  • Nathan claims that this guy took the teacup

  • This upset Michael because his giraffe was involved

  • And Nathan kept this giraffe in his floating hut
